Panajachel, Guatemala — A local audiologist is bringing the gift of hearing to Guatemala.
Dr. Elizabeth Tangel of Imaginears in Medford and a team of audiologists from around the country are in Panajachel, Guatemala.
They’re bringing hearing health care to people who normally don’t have access to it. Throughout the week they’ll screen and treat nearly 2,000 people – mostly kids.
Dr. Tangel said, “It means everything to them because without hearing, they are unable to communicate and live their lives in a way that everybody should be able to.”
There are more missions planned. The next is in April to the Syrian Refugee Camps. Then Dr. Tangel will head to Zambia in June.
