During COVID-19, many states did not deem audiology as essential while ophthalmologists and dentists were. You, more than anyone, know why this is blatantly false and puts your patients at risk. As we know, hearing loss not only can cause someone to isolate and become depressed, but it is a safety issue. People cannot hear cars coming or other warning noises. They cannot hear important on the news. They are having difficult hearing people with masks and due to social distancing.

1. Patient Testimonial

If you are filming it yourself, you can stand back six feet from your patient, so they can remove their mask. It should still work in a quiet room to get audio. If they keep their mask on even at 2 feet, you will find the sound quality is poor. You may want to invest in a lavalier microphone not just for now but for the future. We have that information for you in a minute.

Additional ideas to keep safe social distancing is ask them to record it on their own phone while you are with them. Then, they can airdrop it to you or text it to you. They can also do it at home and send it to you. If the last option is with a mask, then do it.

Video Release Form

If you need a generic video release form for your practice, you can click on the link. Remember, replace the second blank with the name of your practice.

Microphone

As for a microphone, this will make your testimonials 1000 times better. This is one type of lavalier microphone recommended by one of our audiologists and we agree. It is for both iPhones and Droids. Make sure if you have an iPhone that you have the connector.

Tripod

Also, you may want to consider a Tripod to keep it steady and allow you to throw your phone on there and sit and ask questions. You do not have to go with these recommendations, you can go to any reseller and find something you like.

Helpful Tips:

1. Turn off your ringer on your phone before you start your interview. You don't want it ringing right when someone is giving a great answer.
2. Please check your video settings on your phone to make sure they are 1080p and 30fps. Why those settings? 1080p is your FULL HD. This is what TV and movies use and it's why you hold your phone horizontal like a TV screen. 30fps means 30 frames per second which is what TV uses in case any video is ever needed for a news story. You might have heard about 24 frames per second. That is the rate movies use. It can be very cool in action and dramatic filming, but for now, we want your video for the widest use possible.
3. If the interview is going well ... don't be afraid to ask a few more questions and get a full testimonial. We will convert them into branded testimonials for your website and your social media. After you helped your patients, neuroscience from BrainTrust says your patients will feel gratitude and will be happy to return the favor. Asking for a testimonial is something very easy.
4. When you finish any interview, especially if your camera is on a tripod, let the camera keep recording. You get some of your best moments or sound sometimes when they think the interview is over.

2. Sending the Video

There are several ways you can get Entheos the video. For practice owners, you can Slack it directly to Alan. If you go to Slack and click on the plus button next to Direct Messages and start to type in Alan, his name will pop up. You hit go. Then you can just drag the file from your computer into the message and send it or you can use the paper clip icon on the bottom right of the message to attach the file. This will send your high quality video.

You can email the video to Alan or you can upload it to the Essential Video folder on Google. Make sure you notify Alan that it is there. If you cannot do either, contact Alan by the email link.

The deadline for videos is June 15th but the sooner the better. Again if you send in your video as part of a testimonial, we will turn that around after all the videos are made for this campaign.

3. Videos for Campaign

So how do you get all these videos? We are hoping to have at least 50 videos but would prefer 100. That's a lot of videos. We will send a link to a folder with the videos in them. The videos will be labeled in number order. We are going to ask that you post them on Mondays at 9 am and Wednesdays at 11 am. We ask you also then like and share on Facebook pages. You should make someone in your office responsible for posting. The nice part is you'll have several weeks to begin and one person can schedule the posts for the future. You also allowed to get more than 2!

Remember: If you get full testimonials, as an incentive, they will NOT count against the purchasing parameters up to 8. It will take time to turn all the testimonials around.

4. Posting to Facebook

One thing you may want to consider is having one person in your office (potentially someone still working at home) to go ahead and schedule the posts for Facebook so you do not need to think about it. We ask that you post Monday at 9 am and Wednesday at 11 am local times.
Interesting Fact: If you want one fact why hearing is essential in the video world, it is easier to fix bad video than bad audio. There are always tricks we can do on video as well as cover it with other video. We CANNOT fix bad sound. Sound even in the editing world is far more complicated.
